Know All men by these presents that I Bartlett Smith of the county of Patrick and state of Virginia for and in consideration of the Natural love and affection which I bear to my son George Smith of the aforesaid county and state as well as for the further consideration of one dollar to me in hand paid by the said George Smith at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the recipt wherof is hereby acknowledged. Have Given and granted and by these presents do give[?] and Grant unto the said George Smith his executors administrators and assigns one Negro boy named Sampson to have and to hold the said negro boy unto him the said George Smith his executors administrators and assigns forever and the said Bartlett Smith for himself his executors and administrators the said negro boy unto the said George Smith his executors administrators and assign against the claim of him the said Bartlett Smith his executors and administrators and against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and defend forever by them these presents In [word?] whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirteenth day of December 1815.
